How to Plan Your Visit to The Gang (Step-by-Step)
Use this practical guide to plan a meal at Istanbul Airport, regardless of which restaurant you choose.
Step 1: Check Your Flight and Layover Time
Before eating, confirm your layover duration. A quick meal at a food court counter can be done in 20–30 minutes. A sit-down restaurant needs 45–60 minutes. If your layover is under 90 minutes, opt for a quick counter or grab-and-go option.
Step 2: Locate Food Options on the Airport Map
Use the official Istanbul Airport app or website to view the terminal map. Search for “Food & Beverage” or “Restaurants” to see the dining options in your zone. The map shows the location of each venue relative to your gate.
Step 3: Navigate to the Food Area
After security and passport control, follow signage for dining. The main food areas are in the departures concourse, near duty-free shops and retail zones. Allow 5–15 minutes to walk from your gate to a dining area.
Step 4: Choose Your Food and Order
Most food court counters use a simple order-at-counter system: place your order, pay, and collect your food. Some restaurants may offer self-service kiosks or app-based ordering. Check the menu board before ordering to see prices and options.
Step 5: Find a Seat and Enjoy
During peak hours, seating can be limited. If you can’t find a table, consider ordering takeaway and eating near your gate. Some restaurants have designated seating areas; others may share seating with the food court.
Step 6: Budget Your Time and Get Back to Your Gate
After eating, allow time to walk back to your gate. Add a buffer of at least 10–15 minutes beyond your estimated walking time. If your gate is far from the dining area, factor in extra time. Always monitor the departure screens for gate changes.
